M&M – Not your typical wedding
After visiting a few years earlier for a couples’ weekend, Michelle & Michael ended up back at Rolling Thunder Ranch nestled in the hills of Ojai for their April wedding weekend. They rented out the ranch and stayed for the best part of a week prepping for their destination wedding for their 80+ friends & family. They brought in friend & photographer, James Emerson, from Colorado to enjoy the weekend and capture their Big Day. They also brought a dear friend down from the Bay Area to spin as their DJ for the entire night. Their officiant was a dear friend who did a wonderful job making the ceremony personalized and significant. Other than those personal friends, the couple chose to hire local vendors to take care of them. Michelle & the bridal party was beautified by Luna Bella Make-Up Artistry – one of my personal favorite vendors! It was my first chance to work with DJ’s Catering of Ventura who was professional, efficient and the food was wonderful. Rentals were provided by Ventura Rentals – beautiful purple overlays & stunning purple bubble glass wine goblets made the tables POP! The guests had a suprise at the end of the meal with mini-pies from Santa Barbara-based Simply Pies – their Lemon Dream is my personal favorite – the pies were enjoyed more than ANY wedding cake I’ve ever seen! The party got started next to the roaring fireplace with the DJ spinning amazing dance hits from the 1980s and 1990s – Michael Jackson (the good stuff!) was hot and heavy! It was a wonderful break from the modern wedding tunes of a “typical” wedding.
It was a wonderful day of intimate moments, tiny details & soft moments that no one will forget. My favorite moment was when their 6-yr-old flower girl took the mic during the dance portion of the evening, stopped the crowd in their tracks when she sang the Taylor Swift song “Marry Me Juliet” – bringing the bride & groom to tears. It’s moments like that that I will never forget this wonderful couple and their shining smiles. This is was not your typical wedding!
